Egyptian airline Red Sea Airlines will launch direct flights from Moscow’s Vnukovo Airport to Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh on March 18, the airport’s press service reported.

Scheduled flights will be operated three times a week: on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Boeing 737-800 will be used for the flights. Previously, the airline only served Sheremetyevo and St. Petersburg’s Pulkovo airports.

Red Sea Airlines is a young Egyptian airline founded in 2021 and based in Sharm el-Sheikh. It operates scheduled and charter flights from Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh to various destinations, including Europe, Russia and the CIS countries. Since June 2023, it has been operating regular flights to Russia. The carrier’s fleet includes three modern medium-haul Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

The CEO of Ural Airlines said the day before, on March 17, that the airline could transfer some flights from Domodedovo Airport to Vnukovo. According to him, the issue is being discussed within the company. As Kommersant previously found out, S7 Airlines, the base airline for Domodedovo, could also transfer to Sheremetyevo or Vnukovo. The carrier provided Domodedovo with about a quarter of its total revenue, and a potential departure would worsen the airport’s already difficult financial situation.
