FAW-Volkswagen will release 11 new models exclusively for China in the coming years, Bloomberg reports. The first new product from the joint venture of the German and Chinese automakers will appear in 2026.
As the agency notes, Volkswagen has gone for a massive update of its model line in China, facing serious competition from local manufacturers. Last year, VW sales in China fell by 9.5%, to 2.93 million cars. The company expects to increase sales in the country to 4 million cars per year by 2030.
The new models presented under the agreement between FAW and VW include six electric vehicles, two hybrids, two SUVs and one car with a gasoline engine. It is known that the Jetta electric car will be released next year. At the same time, all new models will be equipped with advanced digital technologies, such as autonomous driving and cloud software updates.
